"Georgia's Lake Country" is a local vernacular term for the area that makes up the marketplace around Lake Oconee and Lake Sinclair. This area consists of several small towns and cities. The area is located between Atlanta, Augusta, Athens, and Macon. The small towns include Madison, Rutledge, Bostwick, and Buckhead in Morgan County. Then Greensboro, Union Point, and White Plains in Greene County. Eatonton and a small part of Milledgeville are in Putnam County. But note that both Lake Oconee and Lake Sinclair are located in Eatonton and the lakes do not connect by water. The majority of Milledgeville is in Baldwin County and Sparta is in Hancock County. Then Monticello and Covington are also considered part of Georgia's Lake Country because Lake Jackson touches these towns.
Reynolds Lake Oconee, Reynolds Great Waters, Reynolds Landing, Reynolds Cherokee Point, and Harbor Club are gated lake and golf communities located in Greensboro, Greene County.
